Burton Water Co-op Board Member Opening
The Burton Water Cooperative, your community-controlled water system, is seeking to fill an opening on its five-member Board. You could be that person!
The Board sets policy for the water system, oversees all financial matters, and supervises the small staff who operate the system day to day.
The core requirements for a Board member are:
Be a current member of the Cooperative
Ability to attend twice-monthly Board meetings (via Zoom) and occasional special meetings
Lead or act as liaison on one special area (i.e. Finance, Communication/Membership, Operations)
Able to work collaboratively with other Board members
Personal commitment to Coop mission of dependable, quality, affordable water supply in the community interest
Qualifications:
If you have decades of experience leading a small rural water system, that would be awesome! But that’s not necessary. Really, the Co-op has a skilled staff and access to technical water experts. Most of all we are looking for people to help steward our system.
Key skills the Board is looking for to round out its skill sets include:
Finance and Accounting
Communications (to members)
Project Management
Construction Management
Organizational Development
